His Holiness Sri Sri Ravi Shankar received worldwide recognition for his pioneering spiritual and humanitarian initiatives. His vision of a society which is free of stress and violence through the revival of human values has inspired millions of people to take responsibility for a better world.

The life of Sri Sri Ravi Shankar is wholy devoted to a world that is free of stress and violence. His holistic message of non-violence, respect, dialogue and cooperation resonates more every year on all levels of society. He is a much revered guest-speaker on international conferences and an internationally acknowledged mediator between rival groups in conflict zones such as Sri Lanka, Iraq, Ivory Coast, Cameroon, Kashmir and Bihar. For his numerous peace initiatives, Sri Sri Ravi Shankar was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize several times.

Humanitarian aid

Sri Sri’s activities cover nearly every form of humanitarian need; from natural disasters and posttraumatic stress syndrome to poverty and national and international political issues. His programs focus on education of children living in poverty, housing and medical care in the poorest neighborhoods, organic farming, rehabilitation of prisoners, the position of women and child labor.






Art of Living

In 1982 Sri Sri founded the Art of Living, an educational and humanitarian Non-Governmental Organization with a special consultative status in the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations. Meanwhile, the Art of Living is represented in more than 140 countries with programs that offer sustainable solutions for individual and collective problems. In 1997, the International Association of Human Values (IAHV) was founded to uplift and promote human values and to initiate sustainable development projects.


Sri Sri reached an estimated 300 million people through personal interaction, public events, the Art of Living courses and humanitarian initiatives. Since Mahatma Gandhi, nobody has united so many people of various cultures and religions in a universal believe in human values. In India he is the only spiritual Hindu-leader who is generally recognized as an ambassador of peace by Hindus as well as Muslims, Christians, Sikhs and followers of other religions.


In Art of Living courses Sri Sri makes century-old wisdom about removing stress, uplifting human values and the full blossoming of the human potential available for everybody. He also developed techniques which calm the mind and bring new energy, joy and enthusiasm. The techniques can easily be practiced at home and have helped thousands of people to overcome depression, fear and violent tendencies.

Each year, Sri Sri visits nearly 40 countries, carrying out his universal message that love and wisdom are the only answer to conflict and war.

Sri Sri Ayurveda

Sri Sri Ayurveda was founded by Sri Sri in 1981 in India. Through Sri Sri Ayurveda, Ayurveda is practiced in 35 countries according to its most authentic principles.
